Top 10 Wedding Readings.

From Captain Corelli's Mandolin:
I carry your heart with me
Today is a day you will always remember
Maybe we are supposed to meet the wrong people
Getting Married as Viewed by a Child
To love is not to possess.
I love you.
What makes a good Marriage?

My feet shall run because of you
A good marriage must be created.

  1. From Captain Corelli's Mandolin:
    Love is a temporary madness,
it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together
that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
    Love is not breathlessness,
    it is not excitement,
it is not the promulgation of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away,
and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love, have roots that grow towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches,
they find that they are one tree and not two.

  2. I carry your heart with me
(i carry it in my heart)
I am never without it (anywhere
I go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear no fate (for you are my fate,my sweet
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

  3. Today is a day you will always remember
    The greatest in anyone's life
You'll start off the day just two people in love
And end it as Husband and Wife

It's a brand new beginning the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although there'll be times when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure

You'll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken

So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It's the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper 'I do'

And with luck, all your hopes, and your dreams can be real
May success find it's way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts.

  4. Maybe we are supposed to meet the wrong people
before we meet the right one so when they finally arrive we are truly grateful for the gift we have been given.
Maybe its true that we don't know what we have lost until we lose it but it is also true that we don't know what we're missing until it arrives.
Maybe the happiest of people don't have the best of everything, but make the best of everything that comes their way.
Maybe the best kind of love is the kind where you sit on the sofa together, not saying a word, and walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you ever had.
Maybe once in a lifetime you find someone who not only touches your heart but also your soul, someone who loves you for who you are and not what you could be.
Maybe the art of true love is not about finding the perfect person, but about seeing an imperfect person perfectly

  5. Getting Married as Viewed by a Child
Getting married is one of the most important things you can ever do. This is what happens.
First the boy asks the girl’s Dad if he will let him marry her. This is meant to be a surprise but the girl’s Mum has normally found out first. The Dad always says yes - specially if the boy has got lots of money. Then he shakes his hand and tells hundred of rude stories about him and Mum.Then the Mum and the girl go shopping for millions of new clothes. They get fancy hairstyles and the girl buys a dress that is much too long for her.
Just before the boy gets married his mates go out with him for a feast and they drink masses of beer and try to trick him into DOING IT with other ladies.
On the day you get married you have to stand up in front of all the people and answer questions to see how much you Love the other person. Then you must both make some promises of love that go like this . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
“I promise this person that I will look after them forever, specially if they get very poorly”.
“I promise this person that I will not have rude thoughts about anyone else and that I will only do it with them EVER”.
“I promise this person that I will share out all my private things like secrets, money and sweets”.
“I promise I won’t get cross or giggle if this person whiffs in bed or goes to the lav in front of me because I love all the things about this person (even if they are horrid)”.
When the girl comes out of the service she throws her flowers up in the air and the first person to catch them will be the next to get married.

After the marriage everyone goes to a huge party with Love Pie and Cuddle Cake and such saucy drinking potion that they all dance and kiss and happy around until the whole place is bursting full of love. Right at the end the Marrieds drive off to a secret place with all their presents where they go to bed and get ready to love each other for the whole of the rest of their life

  6. To love is not to possess,
    To own or imprison,
Nor to lose one's self in another.
Love is to join and separate,
    To walk alone and together,
    To find a laughing freedom
That lonely isolation does not permit..
It is finally to be able
To be who we really are:
No longer clinging in childish dependency
Nor docilely living separate lives in silence,
It is to be perfectly one's self
And perfectly joined in permanent commitment
To another – and to one's inner self.
Love only endures when it moves like waves,
Receding and returning gently or passionately,
Or moving lovingly like the tide
In the moon's own predictable harmony,
Because finally, despite a child's scars
    Or an adult's deepest wounds,
They are openly free to be
Who they really are – and always secretly were,
In the very core of their being
Where true and lasting love can alone abide.

  7. I love you.
    That's it, really.
    All there is to say.
    Sums it up.
    In a nutshell.
The long and the short of it.
    The be-all and the end-all.
    I know what I mean;
    you know what I mean.
    More or less.
    We know what I mean.
    Most of the time.

    But though love's sometimes
    best defined by silence
    it may be good
to say a few good words
since you, and love, have taught me
    love's grammar-book: I love 'love'.
Though love as noun is difficult to define.I love love as an adjective:
love's ... just lovely, isn't it? But most of all
    I love love as verb.
    And this I know.
This is my love's active voice:I love. (you) .
I loved you. How well I remember.
I have loved you. I'm so grateful for that.
I shall love you. That I promise.
And when all is done, I'll be proud to remember that
    I shall have loved you;
    and that
we shall have loved. All of which, I hope, leaves you
    in that state curiously undefined
    by grammar -
'fit to love' - to love
    love's grammar-book, in full

for love conquers all, it's said … even a hatred of grammar.

  8. What makes a good Marriage?
Reasons I want you as my Husband?
Is it my hoover repaired just using a knife?
Or you being the one who brought so much fun to my life.

Is it the gardening you do and the pruning of trees?
Or the fact your wink makes me weak at the knees.

Is it my kitchen sink mended in the flash of an eye?
Or because my heart jumps when you pass close by.

Is it another computer repaired in less than a day?
Or you cheering me up, by knowing just what to say.

Is it the towing the caravan that you do so well,
Or the heights you helped me reach from the depths to which I had fell.

It’s all the above and much more as well.

Why I want you as my wife?

Is it cooking the tea which creates a great smell?
Or being so kind and breaking down my hearts shell.

Is it time cleaning the toilet and the bath?
Or fun times together when we both have a laugh.

Is it the sick bowl held for a child in the night?
Or the knowing that that this time it just feels so right.

Is it waiting in all day for EBay to deliver?
Or knowing for tea, it just best not be liver!

Is it doing the washing, sometimes even long after eight?
Or finally knowing I found my Soul mate

It’s all the above, but there’s more so wait!

    What makes a good marriage?

It’s the good and the bad, its fun times and Sad,
It’s sharing the strain and shielding each other from rain.

Its being there for each other when life seems so great
Or a shoulder to cry on when all you need is your mate.

It’s holding hands in the park, and snuggling up in the dark,
It’s being together through life’s stormy weather.

And more than all this it’s the two of us together,
From this day forward and for ever and ever.

  9. My feet shall run because of you
My feet shall dance because of you
My heart shall beat because of you
My eyes shall see because of you
My mind shall think because of you
And I shall love because of you.

  10. A good marriage must be created.
In the marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say 'I love you' at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together and facing the world.....
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is only marrying the right person.
It is being the right partner

Top 10 Wedding Movies

1. Four Weddings and a Funeral. Starring Hugh Grant and Andie McDowell, this is one of the highest grossing British romantic comedies in their history. Four Weddings made Hugh Grant a star overnight. Andie McDowell stepped into the role just two weeks before filming, after original actress dropped out. Four Weddings is one of Julia Roberts’ favourite movies

2. The Graduate. The oldest movie in this list of the top 10 wedding movies, The Graduate is based one of the most famous affairs in film history. Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman star in this movie, which was Hoffman’s third film. He made it when he was a struggling actor. A classic scene was when Hoffman’s character stopped Bancroft’s daughter’s wedding – a scene that has been spoofed in Wayne’s World and The Simpsons

3. My Best Friend’s Wedding. Another Julia Roberts movie, she co-starred with Cameron Diaz and Dermot Mulroney. Roberts is determined to put a stop to her best friend’s wedding (Mulroney is marrying Diaz in the movie). In an interview about this movie, Roberts said a wedding should be “a party to say we all believe in this love.” Director P.J. Hogan said this wedding movie has a Shakespearian feel.

4. My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Based on the real life experiences of Nia Vardalos, a Greek Winnipeg-based actress, this romantic comedy was originally a one-woman play. Tom Hanks’ wife Rita convinced Hanks to make the movie; he had to convince Vardalos to put more kissing and make out scenes in the movie. It’s definitely one of the funniest, most culturally interested of these top ten wedding movies

5. Father of the Bride. Steve Martin and Diane Keaton star in this romantic comedy, which is a remake of the original Father of the Bride staring Spencer Tracy. Martin Short is the wedding planner in the movie, and he steals the show. Kimberly Williams played the bride-to-be in Father of the Bride. This is a wedding movie that focuses more on the parents of the bride than the bride herself.

6. Muriel’s Wedding. Australian Toni Collette stars in this Cinderella story about a dream come true. It’s not really a romantic comedy because it deals with suicide, cancer, and following your heart. Even though it doesn't feature huge movie stars, it is definitely one of the sweetest, most touching of the top ten wedding movies.

 7. The Wedding Planner. Jennifer Lopez plays a wedding planner who falls in love with the fiancé of her client. Matthew McConaughey co-stars in this romantic comedy. In real life, Lopez was married twice before she married Ben Affleck. McConaughey has never married, but is a great leading man in wedding movies.

8. The Wedding Singer. Adam Sandler stars in this movie about a wedding singer who was jilted at the altar, and who becomes the worst wedding singer. Drew Barrymore is Sandler’s co-star. In real life, Barrymore married bartender Jerry Thomas when she was 19. She later married Canadian Tom Green. This is an edgy addition to the top ten wedding movies.

9. The Marrying Man. Neil Simon wrote this screenplay, and Alec Baldwin starred as the man who married the same woman four times. Kim Basinger plays a sultry lounge singer who is a mobster’s girlfriend, which prevents her from marrying the man she really loves. In real life, Alec and Kim fell in love on the set of this movie and married, but later divorced in 2002. This top ten wedding movie includes steamy love scenes.

10. Runaway Bride. Julia Roberts stars in this romantic comedy about weddings that don't happen. Her character is so afraid of commitment, she keeps leaving her grooms at the altar, and co-star Richard Gere plays the man who finally marries her. In real life, Julia Roberts is now married to cameraman Daniel Moder. Her previous marriage was to Lyle Lovett -- and director Garry Marshall gave her away in that wedding.
